City Lights was written (at least from Sam's viewpoint in thinking) about the frustration that can be in the music industry with closed doors!!
And some closed doors will always be there! "I didn't pack a gun in Nashville when I and Ron wrote this song! But I met some that did!
I did get held up once! Then I did buy a gun for protection, but I didn't shoot any lights out or anyone! LOL!!

A country boy hiked into the city on a busy hot summers night. The cars sped by full of people, going to all those places under the lights. The lights they looked so pretty!
